Dohtonbori SM Pampanga
About This Spot
Stepping into Dohtonbori SM Pampanga is like being gently invited into a nook of bustling Japanese charm tucked within the busy corridors of SM City Pampanga. The warm glow of soft lighting and the subtle hum of quiet conversation create a welcoming sanctuary where patience feels natural, even as the city pulses just beyond its doors. The space is intimate and thoughtfully arranged, with a mix of cozy rooms where you remove your shoes for a more traditional sit-down, and a second floor that offers room to breathe a little easier.
The atmosphere carries a pleasant balance of casual comfort and respectful tradition. The playful touch of a large tanuki figure at the entrance hints at a dining experience that values character as much as cuisine. This is a place where time slows just enough to enjoy the textiles of textures and tastes emerging from the kitchen.
Food here unfolds through shared moments: the sizzle of okonomiyaki on the griddle; the comforting steam rising from bowls of ramen; the crisp, golden edges of tempura served fresh and hot. Meals invite conversation and contemplation alike, honoring simple pleasures along with thoughtful preparation. There’s a grounded joy in discovering the richness of flavors balanced with familiar notes—from the fresh zest of sushi rolls to the hearty, savory depth of pork-based ramen, all carrying a modest portion of indulgence.
Engagement with the staff feels personal, marked by warm attentiveness rather than formality. Though the pace can be leisurely, it seems part of the rhythm here—a reminder that good food often asks for a few patient, full breaths. Families with little ones find ease too, thanks to small but meaningful care like high chairs.
Dohtonbori’s charm lies not in the glare of spectacle but in the gentle unfolding of moments that feel quietly curated: a nudge towards tradition, a pinch of playful character, and a steady focus on genuine hospitality. For those who appreciate Japanese flavors within a space that holds both tradition and city life in balance, this spot sparks thoughtful cravings and, often, a desire to return.

Dined here two months ago. Got their set meal and their matcha ice cream and both were good. I wish the ramen had bigger portion (more noodles) but I suppose you get what you pay for. The matcha ice cream wasn’t really anything special but it did taste like matcha so I can’t complain. The service was great too. Would love to go back here when I’m craving japanese food with reasonable prices

Food – The ramen was good, but the Okonomiyaki cheeseburger was amazing. I’d probably come back just for that since the ramen, while tasty, wasn’t particularly special (though still above average). The place is quite small and tight, and I had to wait around 25 minutes for the food. On the bright side, the staff was very friendly when I followed up on my order. However, there’s one staff member who always seems to make faces whenever customers change seats, which comes across as mocking and gives off negative vibes. You might also want to reconsider the setup of the 2-seater tables. Customers usually order quite a lot, and the small tables just don’t fit everything comfortably, especially since you have plenty of space above to improve the layout.

The food was good considering the price for the don meals. They are tasty. A bit on the pricey side with a huge enough serving. I would have loved it more if they offered some tea to balance the meal. Prices of Drinks are similar to your typical restaurant- Expensive. Good ambience but it feels like the space is too tight if you aren’t in the rooms which are behind closed doors. Accepts cash and card With 5% service charge

Dohtonbori at SM City Pampanga features a two-floor setup with a distinct Japanese dining experience. On the first floor, there's a room where guests remove their footwear and sit on the floor, adding to the traditional ambience. A large raccoon figure greets visitors at the entrance, and stairs lead to additional seating on the second floor, making the visit memorable.

The staff were all accommodating and friendly. The food was great, we loved the spicy ramen (sorry I forgot what its called!) The best thing for me was their Ebi tempura, which was served hot and crispy. Some information: - they have service charge - you can have your ramen to go - they have high chair for infants/toddlers

The Ramon was very good the gyoza had way to much garlic, it over powered the dish. The Service was great. I would recommend. Not kid friendly menu.

The location had a beautiful ambiance that made it a great spot to spend time with friends and family. If you are a fan of Japanese culture, then you will enjoy the overall atmosphere of this restaurant. However, I have to agree with others who have mentioned that the staff were not very accommodating towards their customers. Although most of the food was too salty for my taste, the shrimp dish was definitely the best item on the menu.
